About The Artist
Melanie A. Dernis Rosen has always had a passion and love of art. Melanie is the third generation of artists in her family. Her father created original works of art through metal sculpting; her uncle created original oil paintings; and her grandmother experimented with various mosaic techniques creating furniture and wearable art through beading, knitting and crocheting.
Melanie has spent her professional life putting her creative talents to work in the corporate world as a commerical litigator for various South Florida law firms, her own practice and as an Arbitrator for the Florida Attorney General's Lemon Law Program. In her free time she has developed her interest in art.
She has trained in the arts of silk painting, beading, ceramics, and mosaics. Her silk painting designs are inspired by the sunshine and casual environment of the South Florida community, the innocence and playfulness she experiences raising her children, and her interest in Judaism. She has developed an extensive line of original hand painted silk challah/bread covers for use on the Sabbath and other Jewish holidays.
Her interest in beading has developed from her love of wearing original jewelry pieces. The beaded jewelry includes barrettes, eye glass holders, and lanyards. Melanie also has beautiful hand beaded serving pieces to enhance anyone's dining room table.
Through the use and manipulation of polymer clay, Melanie has created uniquely colorful serving pieces, vases, mezzuzahs and seder plates. Each is hand made with colors carefully chosen to compliment and contrast to make a one-of-a-kind keepsake for their owner.
Mad Art Creations has original designs affordable for every person's budget. Please contact Melanie should you be interested in purchasing a custom work of art.
